In vitro rooting and shoot growth of Pyrus betulaefolia rootstock

An in vitro study was conducted to determine the effect of IBA and medium concentration on rooting and shoot growth of Pyrus betulaefolia L., a promising pear rootstock in Brazil. High rooting was achieved with 1 and 5 mgL-1 IBA and wounding enhanced rooting in combination with 0.25 and 0.5 mgL-1. The longest shoots with the best quality were obtained on a 75% salts MS medium and 4.0 mgL-1 IBA.
