Roosting behavior and group decision making in 2 syntopic bat species with fission–fusion societies
2014
Fleischmann, Daniela | Kerth, Gerald
Lay SummaryA field study on 2 bat species showed that ecologically similar species use different group decision-making rules for solving an identical coordination problem. Experimentally created conflicts of interests over whether to roost communally revealed that brown long-eared bats always achieved a consensus, whereas Bechstein’s bats formed subgroups according to individual interests.
