Fodder radish seed cake (FRSC), a by-product of biodiesel production process using fodder radish seed oil, by the composition, presents itself as a possible new raw material for pyrolysis to obtain biochar with attractive agronomic properties and bio-oil that may has use in the chemical industry and in bioenergy. In this work, FRSC chemical properties were evaluated to discuss the possibility of using this biomass as a feedstock for pyrolysis. The study presents that FRSC has characteristics that make it attractive as a feedstock for thermochemical conversion (pyrolysis) in order to obtain products to be used as feedstock in the obtainment of chemicals, with agronomic uses and in bioenergy. This may also close the loop in biodiesel production, enhancing the potential of this biofuel compared to other biomasses.
