Dietary fiber determination methods

Various analytical methods employing gravimetry, filtration, enzymes, chromatography, and spectrometry are reviewed and discussed for the determination of dietary fiber in cereal products and other foods. It is concluded that the gravimetric approach appears to be the only practical method of fiber determinations for control and content declaration purposes. The utility of other methods is discussed.
