Isolation, purification and pathogenicity of Penicillium funiculosum causing fruit rot of aonla

The morphological study of fungus (P. funiculosum) produced whitish blue mycelial growth, which later turned light green and finally bluish green in colour with abundant sporulation. Conidial heads were asymmetric, once or twice branched, elongate, bearing long tangled chains of conidia. Metulae arising from branches at the same level, 3 to 6 in number and about 10–15 X 2–3 μm; phialides in groups of 5–9, about 8–12 X 2–2.5 μm longer. Conidia were smooth, elliptical to cylindrical, when first formed, and usually remaining elliptical, generally 4–5 X 2.5–3.5 μm.
