Comparing effects of two types of weight-control counseling on motivation and weight loss

A study of 90 overweight men and women volunteers compared the effectiveness of 2 methods of group counseling for achieving subject motivation to counseling and resultant weight reduction, viz.: self-identification training (SIT) involving relaxation techniques; and eating behavior modification (BM). The results indicated that the SIT group lost more weight than the BM group. The study data are statistically summarized and discussed.(wz)
