The use of biofertilizers in legumes can be an alternative to expensive inorganic fertilizers, particularly for improving the production of food legumes. Field experiments were conducted consecutively for three years to study the effect of various bioinoculants viz., Rhizobium, PSB, PGPR, KRB, AM fungi and Methylobacterium on the growth and yield of greengram. Although individual as well as dual inoculations enhanced the plant height and number of nodules in greengram, the maximum increase was recorded with the combined inoculation of all bioinoculants. The composite inoculation of all bioinoculants recorded the higher bio mass of 38.6 g plant-¹ and grain yield of 813.3 kg ha⁻¹ on an average for three years of study, whereas the uninoculated control registered 27.0 g plant-¹ and 682.2 kg ha⁻¹ respectively. Significant increase in the grain yield was recorded with the composite inoculation (19%) as compared to uninoculated control. From this study it is evident that the combined inoculation of all bioinoculants enhanced the growth and yield attributes of greengram.
