An assessment of microwave reflectance as a technique for estimating the volumetric water content of soil
1991
Whalley, W.R. | Bull, C.R.
A model that describes the reflectance of microwave energy from a two-layer soil profile is developed and subsequently used to obtain an insight into the application of microwave reflectance in the estimation of soil water profiles. It is concluded that microwave frequencies can give a good estimate of the volumetric water content only to a depth of approximately 0.10 m and are unlikely to give accurate indications of water content at greater depths.
