Report on the 1986 census of The American Dietetic Association
1987
Bryk, J.A.
This report presents the major findings of the 1986 census of the members of the American Dietetic Association. The census is the Association's attempt to develop an accurate profile of the characteristics of the membership at a single point in time. A questionnaire composed of 30 close-ended questions was mailed to 52,145 members. The questionnaire elicited the following information about the member: member class, demographic characteristics, dietetic practice area, educational attainment, registration and licensure status, and professional activities and interests. Findings of the 1986 census provided information on a large number of dietetic practitioners and all types of dietetic practice were represented. Some of the major findings will permit ADA to conduct special studies on questions of interest to different groups within the Association.
