The relative yield of a first generation cross between two varieties of corn before and after selection
1931
Garber, R.J. | North, H.F.A.
In some earlier work with first generation crosses in corn Clarage X Longfellow gave higher yields than either of the parent varieties. When these same two varieties were subjected to an ear-to-row test to discover the ears and when a cross was made between them, no increase in yield of the F1 generation over the higher-yielding parent was obtained.
