A well-known nutritionist in Jamaica challenged a manufacturer of infant foods. He asked if certain nurses who visit the mothers in hospitals and homes receive any form of compensation from the manufacturers or selling agents for their private persuasions. The response of the company is quoted. The Mothercraft Nurses are paid regular salaries and receive no special commission for their services. They play a supportive role to the mother in breastfeeding or artifically feeding her infant. An editor's note cites limits to self-regulation of milk nurses.
