Effect of endosulfan, on carbohydrate, lipid levels in the tissues such as hepatopancreas, testes and ovaries of fresh water crab B. cunicularis was observed after exposure to lethal concentration (LC₅₀ 2.22 µg ml⁻¹ for 96 h) and sublethal concentration (0.37 µg ml⁻¹ for 21 d). The results revealed that, in lethal concentration (96 h) the total free sugar content level in the tissues increased as compared to control but the same decreased in sublethal concentration (21 d). The glycogen content was found to decrease significantly in all the exposed tissues of crab on exposure to lethal and sublethal concentration. However, lipid levels were found to increase in the hepatopancreas but decreased in ovaries and testes in lethal concentration. Similarly these were found to decrease in all the sampled tissues on sublethal concentration exposure.
