For efficient decomposition of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) in goat whey solution, we are using ozone (O3), ozone with zinc oxide (O3/ZnO), and ozone with zinc oxide and activated carbons (O3/ZnO/ACs) systems through catalytic ozonation process. The performance and efficiency of system were evaluated. The results showed that ozonation of sample using O3/ZnO/ACs system was found to be the most efficient for the DBP degradation. A maximum DBP degradation value of 99.04% was achieved after ozonation of whey solution using O3/ZnO/ACs system at O3 dosage 15 mg/L, pH 4, and 80 min. The ozonation treatments did not result in significant changes in protein, lactose, and ash content of whey (P > 0.05), while the fat content of whey decreased after ozonation. The results indicated that catalytic ozonation using O3/ZnO/ACs system can be suggested as an efficient process for the removal of DBP from contaminated whey and dairy products to prevent potential adverse health effect.
