Methods and findings are reported from a study which compared the dietary status of a group of elderly residents of a rural community with that of residents of a private nursing home in the same geographic area. Mean intakes of energy, protein, vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, ascorbic acid, calcium, phosphorus and iron were evaluated. Tables show statistics. The independent living elderly were consuming slightly better diets than the nursing home residents in the study.
