Sociability and patterns of participation: implications for social service policy
1988
Auslander, G.K. | Litwin, H.
This study looks at the relationship between indicators of voluntary organization participation and close personal ties, as well as certain demographic characteristics. With the use of bivariate and multivariate techniques to ascertain this relationship, a secondary analysis of national survey data was carried out between 1979-80. Analysis of the results from 3025 respondents suggest that persons with a greater number of close allies will also participate in more voluntary organizations. The implications for social service policy are discussed and a list of references are provided.
