Neurotransmitter abnormalities in anorexia and bulimia nervosa
1992
Kaye, W.H.
This chapter describes some of the neuromodulatory disturbances found in patients with eating disorders. It focuses on the neuromodulators known to activate feeding behavior. In addition, this chapter reviews data on a number of inhibitory neuromodulatory systems (serotonin, corticotropin releasing hormone, cholecystokinin) that seem to be of particular interest in human feeding behavior. It also addresses the question of whether neurotransmitter disturbances are "state" or "trait" related.
