Nitrogen-Potassium Utilization by Three Pasture Grasses
1965
Duell, Robert W.
SynopsisOrchardgrass yields were reduced more by the inadequacy of applications of NH₄NO₃ only, than were tall fescue or Kentucky bluegrass. Percentage of K in plant tissue decreased where NH₄NO₃ was the only fertilizer applied. Orchardgrass showed the greatest and Kentucky bluegrass the least response to differences in K. In P content and responsiveness to P availability, the species ranked: orchardgrass>tall fescue>Kentucky bluegrass. Plots receiving only NH₄NO₃ had higher percentages of crude protein. Tail fescue generally had the lowest percentage of crude protein.
