Effect of calcium on growth, yield and economics of potato (Solanum tuberosum spp. tuberosum)

An experiment was conducted at department of Vegetable Science, C.S.Azad University of Agri.& Tech. Kalyanpur, Kanpur during rabi season of 2009- 10 and 2010–11 to find out the effect and economics of calcium on crop growth and yield of Potato variety Kufri Ashoka Randomized Block Design was selected with sevan treatment of calcium including control was conducted with four replications. There were three levels with two methods of calcium application as 12,24,36kg⁻¹ which was applied full dose at planting and in other method ashalf dose at planting and rest half at the time of earthing up. Results revealed that maximum plant height, number of shoots per plant and number of leaves per plant at 45DAP; number of tubers per plot and per ha(grade wise)and total yield of tuber(q ha⁻¹)and also the maximum cost- benefit ratio was found 1:8.4.
