An investigation was conducted on the ovulatory cycles and pregnancies of captive Banteng cattle (n = 4). Estradiol and progesterone profiles plus palpation of the ovaries resulted in a mean cycle length of 20 days (+/- 0.68) for 6 cycles. Maximum follicle diameter before ovulation ranged from 15 to 20 mm and ovulations occurred equally on the right and left ovaries. Estrous cycles continued year round when not interrupted by pregnancy. Mean latency from parturition to the first ovulation was 44.8 (+/- 7.8) days, ranging from 30 to 65 days for the 4 pregnancies in 3 of the 4 cows. The fourth cow did not ovulate within the 96-day postpartum sampling period. The results generally conform with those found for the domestic cow (Bos taurus).
