The paper focuses on the evaluation of nitrogen variable fertilization of sugar beet using the optical Yara N Sensor ALS connected to an 18-row cultivator (Row Master RN 9000 S) with a fertilizer hopper and hose outlets to individual rows of sugar beet and fertilizer incorporation into the soil from both sides of the plant. The developed system of variable nitrogen fertilization reduced the variability of the Nmin content in the soil on the experimental plots compared to the conventional uniform dose, which showed the highest variability in the Nmin content under the stand after fertilization. The stand fertilized with the variable dose of nitrogen showed comparable nutrition to the uniform dose. The difference in sugar beet yield between the uniformly and variably fertilized variant was very small. The yield slightly increased in the stand with variable nitrogen application by 1.5 t/ha resp. by 2% compared to surface fertilization with the uniform dose.
