Multiple catastrophic floods on the Mtkvari River and its tributaries, the damage and casualties caused by them are described. It is noted that the increase in losses is caused by the increase in the frequency of heavy rainfall, as well as by the strong anthropogenic change of the sub-layered surface, the infiltration of soils and the reduction of the permeability of river beds. In the conditions of global warming of the climate, the expected increase in the intensity of atmospheric precipitation will lead to an increase in the frequency of catastrophic processes. In order to ensure safety and reduce losses, appropriate preventive measures should be taken. Tab. 3, Ref. 9.
