Double shaft dryers of DSP-32 type are the most widespread in Ukraine. The actual energy intensity of grain drying in such dryers twice exceeds the calculated need for phase transformations of moisture in grain. The greatest heat losses occur with exhaust working gases. It is necessary to compare the expediency of utilising the heat of these gases with the costs of technical support of recovery proposals. The least costly but less environmentally friendly proposals can pay off within 0.5 season of dryer operation. Environmentally friendly proposals using heat pipes can pay for themselves within 5 years.
