The Chain Information Model: a systematic approach for food product development

英语. The chain information model has been developed to increase the success rate of new food products. The uniqueness of this approach is that it approaches the problem from a chain perspective and starts with the consumer. The model can be used to analyse the production chain in a systematic way. This results in several scenarios each describing different pathways to produce the intended product. The scenarios also contain the possible consequences for the quality characteristics caused by changes in the production process. Based on these scenarios the chain information model indicates what information is needed by each actor in the production chain for the successful development of the intended product. In its present form the model provides the product development team with a systematic approach for the effective and efficient development of new food products and the improvement of existing products. The model can also be used as a tool for knowledge management and as a communication tool between the different members of the development team.

荷兰语； 佛兰德语. Om het slaagpercentage van nieuwe levensmiddelen te vergroten is het keten-informatie model ontwikkeld. Het unieke van deze aanpak is dat het de problematiek benaderd vanuit een ketenperspectief en uitgaat van de wensen van de consument. Het model analyseert de productieketen op een systematische manier en voorziet de productontwikkelaar van een aantal scenario’s waarin verschillende mogelijkheden staan waarop het geplande product gemaakt kan worden. In de scenario’s staan ook de mogelijke gevolgen van veranderingen in het productieproces op de kwaliteitseisen die consument aan het product stelt. Het model geeft vervolgens aan welke informatie de verschillende spelers in de productieketen nodig hebben voor de succesvolle realisatie van het geplande product. In zijn huidige vorm voorziet het keten-informatie model productontwikkelingsteams van een systematische aanpak voor het efficiënt en effectief ontwikkelen van nieuwe producten en het verbeteren van bestaande producten. Tevens kan het gebruikt worden als hulpmiddel voor kennismanagement en als communicatie middel tussen de verschillende leden van het productontwikkelingsteam.
