PRODUCCIÓN DE LÍPIDOS BIOACTIVOS EN CAMARÓN BLANCO DEL PACÍFICO Litopenaeus vannamei BAJO CONDICIONES DE ESTRÉS Y SU MODULACIÓN CON ALIMENTOS ELABORADOS CON SUBPRODUCTOS MARINOS

"Entre los principales problemas de la camaronicultura está la mortandad ocasionada por estrés al manipular camarones que frecuentemente ocurre durante la siembra, desdoblamiento y cosecha. En varios modelos animales se ha reportado que el estrés está regulado por la síntesis de prostaglandinas (PG) producidas enzimáticamente a partir del ácido araquidónico (ARA) por la cicloxigenasa (COX), pero el estrés también puede afectar la producción no enzimática de lípidos con actividad biológica, como isoprostanos y productos oxidados de colesterol (COP, por sus siglas en ingles). En el presente trabajo se realizaron tres bioensayos con el fin de evaluar la producción de lípidos bioactivos en juveniles de camarón Litopenaeus vannamei. En el primero bioensayo, se evaluaron tres alimentos: un Control con harina de pescado y dos alimentos experimentales, uno con harina de vísceras de almeja Catarina y otro con harina de vísceras de calamar, sustituyendo al 10% la harina de pescado en un bioensayo de crecimiento con duración de 60 días, Al final del bioensayo, se aplicó a los camarones un estrés por manipulación, exposición aérea de 15 minutos y después un periodo de recuperación de 30 minutos en agua. La sustitución parcial con calamar tuvo efectos positivos en el crecimiento y consumo del alimento de los camarones, mientras que los camarones alimentados con almeja presentaron mejor respuesta (supervivencia, crecimiento, ganancia de peso, supervivencia post-estrés) al estrés; también se observó mayor expresión reactiva de genes de enzimas antioxidantes en este tratamiento (catalasa y glutatión peroxidasa). Ambos alimentos con 10% de subproductos redujeron las PG y los hidroperóxidos en los camarones después del estrés por manipulación. Los subproductos de Catarina y calamar probablemente contienen antioxidantes (pigmentos, polifenoles, flavonoides), HUFA, zinc y otros componentes nutrimentales que pueden ayudar a contrarrestar los efectos pro-oxidantes de un estrés. En el segundo bioensayo se determinó el efecto de distintas dosis de ASA (50, 100, 200 y 400 mg de ASA por kg de biomasa de camarón) en el alimento a lo largo de 24 horas (0, 1, 3, 6 y 24 horas) sobre la producción de PG en camarones. Se observó usando análisis hitológico que la dosis más alta, de 400 mg/kg, posiblemente produce daño en las branquias..."

"Shrimp mortality after stress from handling that frequently occurs during stocking, unfolding, and harvesting is one of the biggest problems in aquaculture. Stress has been reported to be regulated by prostaglandin (PG) synthesis by cyclooxygenase (COX) from arachidonic acid (ARA) in several animal models, but stress can also increase the non-enzymatic synthesis of bioactive lipids, like isoprostanes and cholesterol oxidation products (COP). In the present work, three bioassays were conducted to evaluate the production of bioactive lipids mediated by COX in juvenile Litopenaeus vannamei. In the first bioassay, three feeds were evaluated: a Control (containing fishmeal) and two experimental diets, one with Catarina scallop viscera meal and another with squid viscera meal at 10% dietary level partially replacing the fish meal, in 60-day growth bioassay. At the end of the trial, handling stress, 15 minutes of aerial exposure and a recovery period of 30 minutes in wáter were applied. The partial substitution with squid had a positive effect on shrimp growth rate and feed ingestion, while shrimp fed scallop had a better recovery (survival, growth, weight gain, post-stress survival) after stress; they also had a higher rate of relative expression of antioxidant enzyme genes in this treatment (catalase and glutathione peroxidase). Both feeds with 10% by-products reduced PG and hydroperoxide levels in shrimp after the handling stress. Squid and scallop byproducts probably contain antioxidant (pigments, polyphenols, flavonoids), HUFA, zinc and other nutrients that can neutralize the effects pro-oxidants of stress. In the second bioassay, the effect of different doses of ASA (50, 100, 200 and 400 mg/ kg of ASA per shrimp biomass) in the feed over 24 hours (0, 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours) on PG production in shrimp was analyzed. The higher ASA dose (400 mg/kg) produced a negative effect on gills analyzed by histology. The 100 to 200 mg/kg ASA doses were effective in reducing PG after 3 h post-ingestion and had a significant and immediate effect on COX synthesis. In the third bioassay, we used ASA 100 mg/kg to evaluate PG production after handling stress. PG in gills were increased by stress, but not in shrimp fed ASA, while hydroperoxides were not affected by stress. The use of ASA in shrimp feed can be an easy and quick method to increase survival after stress. However, more studies are required to evaluate the physiological status of the shrimp exposed at this drug."
