Régime alimentaire des petits poissons pélagiques dans le golfe de Gascogne, 2004-2022
2024
Petitgas, Pierre
Stomach contents have been collected in the Bay of Biscay from 2004 to 2022 for the five dominant small pelagic fish species, anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus), sardine (Sardina pilchardus), mackerel (Scomber scombrus), sprat (Sprattus, sprattus) and horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus) in spring and for some years in autumn, during day time and occasionnally at night. The data were collected on the research survey series PELGAS and EVHOE. The stomach contents were analyzed with a low taxonomic resolution and semi-quantitative abundance quotation. The data represent a unique long-term monitoring of stomach contents. This report presents a firts analysis of these data. The diets of the species are characterized, their overlap, their interannual variability in spring. The effects of the season, the day night cycle, habitats, vertical distribution and fish size are also characterized.
