Effect of domestication on the brain mass of the American mink (Neovison vison) | Влияние доместикации на массу головного мозга норки американской (Neovison vison)

英语. The domestication of animals is accompanied by the emergence of new forms of behavior, indicators of reproduction, and morphophysiological transformations in the body. To study the dynamics of absolute and relative brain weight in American mink, the main species of fur-bearing animals bred in cages, studies were carried out on 100 heads of standard dark brown minks (50 males and 50 females) kept at the Saltykovsky breeding farm, Moscow region, Russia. Body length was measured with a measuring tape from the tip of the nose to the root of the tail. Skull length was measured from the base of the skull to its articulation with the vertebral column, and the width was measured as the distance between the most distant points of the eyesockets. Body and brain weight were determined by weighing. As a result of the research, it was found that, against the background of an increase in body size, the length and width of the skull proportionally increased, therefore, the relative weight of the brain changed. A higher variability in brain weight in domesticated minks compared to wild minks was noted. In females, the indicators ranged from 6–10 g, and in males, they ranged from 6–13 g. In wild females and males, the indicators ranged from 7-8 g and 8–9 g, respectively. In the domestication process, there was a significant increase in body weight: in males 2.6 times (from 1190 g), in females 2.5 times (from 706 g), which led to a significant decrease in the relative weight of the brain: in females from 12.2 to 4.8% and in males from 9.2 to 3.1%. At the same time, the absolute brain weight has not undergone significant changes. Thus, in the process of American mink domestication, the main change was in the body weight and size of the skull, which affected the relative weight of the brain.

俄语. Одомашнивание животных сопровождается появлением новых форм поведения, показателей размножения, морфофизиологическими преобразованиями в организме. С целью изучения динамики абсолютной и относительной массы головного мозга у норок американских – основного вида пушных зверей, разводимых в неволе - выполнены исследования на 100 головах стандартной темно-коричневой норки (50 самцов и 50 самок) в племзаводе "Салтыковский". Длину тела измеряли мерной лентой от кончика носа до корня хвоста. Длину черепа измеряли от основания черепа до его сочленения с позвоночным столбом, ширину – как расстояние между наиболее удаленными точками глазных орбит. Массу тела и головного мозга определяли путем взвешивания. В результате исследований установлено, что на фоне увеличения размера тела пропорционально увеличились длина и ширина черепа, вследствие чего изменилась относительная масса головного мозга. Отмечена более высокая вариабельность массы головного мозга у доместицированных норок по сравнению с дикими. У самок показатели находились в пределах 6-10 г, у самцов – 6-13 г. У диких самок и самцов: 7-8 г и 8-9 г, соответственно. В процессе доместикации произошло существенное увеличение массы тела: у самцов – в 2,6 раза (с 1190 г), у самок – в 2,5 раза (с 706 г), что привело к значительному снижению относительной массы головного мозга: у самок с 12,2 до 4,8%; у самцов – с 9,2 до 3,1%. При этом абсолютная масса мозга существенных изменений не претерпела. Таким образом, в процессе доместикации американской норки основным изменением подверглись живая масса и размеры черепной коробки, что отразилось на относительной массе головного мозга.
