Efecto de dos tipos de destete y la aplicación de un progestágeno sobre la fertilidad en vacas cebuinas (Bos indicus) | Effect of two types of weaning and the application of a progestagen on the fertility in Bos indicus cattle

Se sincronizaron 55 hembras cebuinas con un promedio de 67 días postparto con un progestágeno sintético (Crestar, Lab Intervet). Al momento del retiro del implante, se separaron las crías por 72 h y fueron divididas en tres grupos: I (n = 20) mantenía contacto visual y olfativo con las crías (CCV), II (n = 20) no tenía contacto alguno con las crías (SCV) y III (n = 15), en el cual las crías no fueron separadas (SS). Además fueron colocados dos toros en cada grupo experimental al momento del retiro del implante. El porcentaje de animales ciclando en el grupo CCV al inicio del experimento fue de 30% (6/20), llegando al 75% posterior a la exposición a los toros (15/20); en el grupo SCV 15% (3/20) mostraban un cuerpo lúteo funcional inicialmente, cifra que cambió a 40% (8/20), mientras en el SS los porcentajes fueron de 53.3% (8/15) y 73.3% (11/15) respectivamente. No hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los grupos, en la duración promedio del estro (6.9 h) y en el momento de inicio del mismo después del retiro del implante (43 h). En el grupo SCV el número de montas por hora durante el celo (1.5 ± 0.1) fue menor que en los grupos CCV 2.2 ± 0.5 y SS 2.5 ± 1.0, presentando diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p<0.05). El índice de fertilidad al día 43 en el grupo SS fue de 53.3% (8/15), en el grupo SCV 55% (11/20) y en el CCV de 70% (14/20), no existiendo diferencias estadísticamente significativas (P0.05.) entre los grupos. La condición corporal no influyó sobre estos porcentajes (P0.05.). La velocidad de gestación fue de 1.8 vacas preñadas por semana en el grupo SCV, dos vacas por semana en el grupo SS, mejorando en el grupo CCV a 3.5 vacas por semana. Los resultados sugieren que la mejor respuesta reproductiva se produce en los animales sometidos al tipo de destete con contacto visual (CCV), ya que estos animales tienden a un reinicio de la ciclicidad más rápida, por lo que tienen mayor oportunidad de quedar gestantes.

A total of 55 Zebu females, on average of 67 days postpartum, were synchronized with synthetic progesterone (Crestar, Lab Intervet, México). At the moment of implant withdrawal the calves were separated for 72h and mothers and calves were divided into three groups: Group A (n = 20) mantained visual and olfatory with their calves (CCV). Group B (n = 20) had neither visual nor olfatory contact with their calves (SCV) and the control group C (n = 15) contained synchronized cows wich were not separated from their calves (SS). For the CCV group the percentage of animals cycling at hhe onset of the experiment was 10% (2/20). When exposed to bulls the percentage increased to 85% (17/20). In the group SCV 20% (4/20) showed an active corpus luteum (CL) at the beginning and this percentage increased to 70% (14/20). In the SS group the percentages were 33.3% (5/15) and 80% (12/15) respectively. Oestrous duration was on average 6.9h (P 0.05) and has to be traslated following Crestar‚ withdrawal was the same with 43h . There was no significant statistical difference between the groups (P 0.05). In the SCV group the number of mounts per oestrus (1.5 ± 0.1) was less than in the other groups (CCV 2.2 ± 0.5 and SS 2.5 ± 1.0) and was statistically significantly different (P<0.05) than the groups. Fertility index for day 43 in group SS was 53.3% (8/15), in the group SCV 55% (11/20) and in group CCV 70% (14/20) There was no significant statistical difference between the groups (P 0.05). The body condition did not influence these percentages P0.05. The best reproductive response was found in groups CCV and SS, six days after exposure to a bull when 74% of the cows were already cycling. However, the best percentage of accumulated pregnancies against time was obtained in the SCV. Sixty-nine point one (69.1%) of the experimental animals, including the control group, ovulated.
