El manejo inadecuado de llantas usadas, es un problema ambiental y sanitario que afecta gran parte del planeta, a pesar de existir diferentes alternativas de tratamiento que contribuyen a la mitigación de impactos, recuperación de materias primas y aprovechamiento energético. Diferentes estudios, ratifican las afectaciones a la salud humana y al medio ambiente del manejo inadecuado de llantas usadas, en especial, cuando son incineradas a cielo abierto sin ningún control, generando emisiones de contaminantes como CO, HAP, COV`s, metales pesados, entre otros, causantes de enfermedades respiratorios, cancerígenas y mutagenicas. Con las alternativas de tratamiento, es posible recuperar el 100% de los materiales de las llantas usadas, a la vez que se contribuye a la economía circular.

The improper handling of used tires is an environmental and health problem that affects a large part of the planet, despite the existence of different treatment alternatives that contribute to the mitigation of impacts, recovery of raw materials and energy use. Different studies ratify the effects on human health and the environment of improper handling of used tires, especially when they are incinerated in the open air without any control, generating emissions of pollutants such as CO, PAHs, VOCs, heavy metals, among others, causing respiratory, carcinogenic and mutagenic diseases. With treatment alternatives, it is possible to recover 100% of the materials from used tires, while contributing to the circular economy.
