CGIAR Secretariat note on IARC collaboration with advanced research institutions (ARIs) engaged in mission-oriented basic research, and the reliance of IARC applied research on basic research. At issue are IARC requirements for basic research in the future, and how well present arrangements with ARIs were likely to meet them.
