This essay is the continuation of two previous articles by the same author, published in Wani 17 and 18, which cover the history of Health in the present RAAN from the precolonial period to the Cuban revolution. In this third part is discussed the period defined in the title which goes from 1960 to 1979. This period is characterized by the predominating influence of American assistance mainly canalized trough the AID. Those were the times of the “Alliance for Progress” intended to reduce the influence of the Cuban revolution among the more destitute sectors of the population In Latin America. The present article has two parts. The first part contains a general appraisal of the health conditions of the population of the RAAN at the times, as it can be ascertained from investigation realized in the period. The second part enumerates the health initiatives stimulated by different religious and other organizations in the region, mainly with the financial support of the AID In the context of the Alliance for Progress.

Esta investigación es la continuación de dos artículos precedentes de la misma autora, publicados en las revistas Wani 17 y 18, que cubren la historia de la salud en la RAAN desde antes de la Colonia hasta la Revolución.  En esta tercera parte, después de haber cubierto toda la época anterior se analiza el período señalado en el título (1960-1979), el cual se caracteriza por la influencia preponderante de la ayuda norteamericana canalizada principalmente por la AID. Era la época de la Alianza para el Progreso, destinada a reducir la influencia de la revolución cubana entre las poblaciones más desvalidas de América Latina. El ensayo tiene dos partes. La primera hace una apreciación general de las condiciones de salud de la población en la región (RAAN), según se puede determinar a partir de investigaciones realizadas en la época. La segunda parte enumera las iniciativas de salud impulsadas por diferentes organizaciones religiosas y otras en la zona, principalmente con financiamiento de la AID en el contexto de la Alianza para el progreso.
