Roles of Fadama Cooperative Societies in Extension Delivery in Ikpoba Okha and Oredo Local Government Areas of Edo State.

The study ascertained the roles of fadama cooperative societies in extension delivery in Ikpoba-okha and Oredo LG.A of Edo state. A random sampling technique was used in selecting 35farmersfrom four randomly chosen cooperative societies. Findings reveal that there are more male cooperators (71.4%), with 43.2% of the cooperators within 36 to 45 years of age and 22.9% with secondary level of education. Findings also show that the cooperatives are involved in the supply of inputs, demonstration of improved farming practices and education and training of members (100.0%) respectively. Members of the cooperatives are actively involved in input supply and distribution. A significant relationship exists between cooperators level of education (r -0.29; p< 0.05) and their participation in the extension activities of their cooperatives. It is hereby recommended that cooperative societies should be effectively incorporated into the extension delivery system in the tr offarmersfor improved agricultural production.
