Dr. Filimon Carcea is probably the most influential personality of the Romanian forest planning due to the planning method based on the indicative growth, which has been improved several times in order to accommodate all ecological constraints that popped up since 1964, when the method was officially endorsed. He passed away in January, 2019 and this obituary recalls some seldom-seen human dimensions of his personality. We also highlighted his important contribution to keeping up high quality standards of forest planning, Mr. Carcea being one of the key senior experts of forest planning, who supervised the forest planning for more than two decades
