Alternate host of Melampsora idesiae, rust of Idesia polycarpa in Japan

Melampsora idesiae parasitizes Idesia polycarpa and produces uredinia and telia, but spermogonial and aecial states are unknown. Based on field observations and inoculation experiments, we demonstrated that M. idesiae uses Corydalis incisa as a spermogonial and aecial host.
