Linfoma alimentar felino : ferramentas diagnósticas

O linfoma alimentar é a forma anatômica de linfoma mais frequente nos felinos domésticos e sua incidência aumentou nos últimos anos. É caracterizado pela infiltração de linfócitos neoplásicos em órgãos do trato gastrointestinal, com ou sem envolvimento dos linfonodos mesentéricos. Apesar da alta prevalência dessa enfermidade, o diagnóstico pode ser desafiador por possuir manifestações clínicas inespecíficas e coerentes com diversas enfermidades que podem acometer o trato gastrointestinal dos gatos, principalmente inflamações crônicas intestinais. Os médicos veterinários devem estar preparados para diagnosticar essa enfermidade e prosseguir com o tratamento mais adequado. Para isso, devem conhecer e compreender as diversas ferramentas disponíveis que auxiliam no diagnóstico de linfoma alimentar felino, bem como e quando utilizá-las. Dentre elas podemos citar exames sanguíneos, exames de imagem como ultrassonografia e radiografia, citologia, histopatologia de fragmentos coletados em biópsia por endoscopia ou laparotomia, imuno-histoquímica e PCR para rearranjo de antígenos. O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre linfoma alimentar felino e suas características com enfoque em suas ferramentas diagnósticas.

Alimentary lymphoma is the most common anatomical form of lymphoma in domestic cats and its incidence has increased in recent years. It is characterized by infiltration of neoplastic lymphoid cells in organs of the gastrointestinal tract, with or without involvement of mesenteric lymph nodes. Despite the high prevalence of this disease, the diagnosis can be challenging because it has nonspecific clinical manifestations consistent with several diseases that can affect the gastrointestinal tract of cats, especially chronic intestinal inflammation. Veterinarians must be prepared to diagnose this disease and pursue the most appropriate treatment. To do so, they must know and understand the various tools available that aid in the diagnosis of feline alimentary lymphoma, how and when to use them. Among them are blood tests, imaging tests - such as radiography and abdominal ultrasonography -, cytology, histopathology of fragments collected in biopsy by endoscopy or laparotomy, immunohistochemistry and PCR for antigen rearrangement. The aim of this paper is to perform a literature review on feline alimentary lymphoma and its characteristics with a focus on its diagnostic tools.
