Potcelmu ietekme uz skābo ķiršu šķirnes ‘Zentenes’ augšanu un veselību = Rootstock effect on the growth and health of sour cherry cultivar ‘Zentenes’

The fruit of sour cherry cultivar ‘Zentenes’ is suitable for dessert, but its cultivation is workconsuming due to strong vigour of the trees. The aim of the study was to test the effect of several rootstocks on the growth and health of the sour cherry cultivar ‘Zentenes’ trees grown in different conditions in Dobele and Pūre. The evaluation was done in 2019–2023. In both places, trees of the cultivar ‘Zentenes’ were evaluated on rootstocks P7, Gisela 5 and on clones of the local sour cherry landrace ‘Latvijas Zemais’ clones no. 52, no. 3, no. 10-2-6 and Raunas. The seedlings of mahaleb cherry (Prunus mahaleb) were used as the control rootstocks. The clones of ‘Latvijas Zemais’ Dimzu and Dumbrava were evaluated only in Pūre. Vegetative growth was characterized by determining the trunk circumference and the length of annual shoots on the main branches. The level of frost damages on the trunk and in the canopy was assessed visually using points from 0 (no damage) to 5 (the entire trunk or canopy was covered with damage). In both test locations, clones of the sour cherry ‘Latvijas Zemais’ and the rootstock Gisela 5 reduced the growth of the trunk and maintained a good health for the trees of cv. ‘Zentenes’ budded on them. The growth of annual shoots and the health of the canopy differed in the both sites of the experiment. Both in Pūre and Dobele, the trees of cv. ‘Zentenes’ budded on sour cherry ‘Latvijas Zemais’ no. 52 had good health of the trunk and canopy as well as the optimal length of annual shoots on main branches. In Pūre, good results for the cv. ‘Zentenes’ in the terms of tree growth and health were also observed for the combination with control rootstock P. mahaleb, but in Dobele – for the combinations with the sour cherry ‘Latvijas Zemais’ clones no. 3 and Raunas and with the rootstock Gisela 5. [LAV] Skābo ķiršu šķirnei ‘Zentenes’ ir desertam piemēroti augļi, bet tās audzēšanu apgrūtina koku spēcīgais augums. Pētījuma mērķis bija pārbaudīt vairāku potcelmu ietekmi uz skābo ķiršu šķirnes ‘Zentenes’ koku augšanu un veselību, audzējot dažādos apstākļos Dārzkopības institūtā Dobelē un Pūrē. Koku vērtēšana notika 2019.–2023. gadā. Abās vietās vērtēja šķirnes ‘Zentenes’ kokus uz potcelmiem P7, Gisela 5 un uz vietējās skābo ķiršu šķirnes ‘Latvijas Zemais’ kloniem Nr. 52, Nr. 3, Nr. 10-2-6 un Raunas, kā kontroli izmantojot mahaleba ķirša (Prunus mahaleb L.) sēklaudžus. Tikai Pūrē kā potcelmus vērtēja šķirnes ‘Latvijas Zemais’ Dimzu un Dumbrava klonus. Veģetatīvo augšanu raksturoja, nosakot stumbra apkārtmēru un pamatzaru jauno dzinumu garumu. Stumbra un zarojuma bojājumu pakāpi novērtēja vizuāli – ballēs no 0 (bojājumu nav) līdz 5 (viss zarojums vai visa stumbra virsma klāta ar bojājumiem). Stumbra un zarojuma veselību uzskatīja par labu, ja bojājumu pakāpe nepārsniedza 1.5 balles. Zarojuma augšana un veselība šķirnes ‘Zentenes’ kombinācijām ar dažādiem potcelmiem atšķīrās abās izmēģinājumu vietās. Šķirnei ‘Zentenes’ abās izmēģinājumu vietās stumbra augšanu ierobežoja skābā ķirša ‘Latvijas Zemais’ kloni un potcelms Gisela 5, saglabājoties labai stumbra veselībai. Uz skābā ķirša ‘Latvijas Zemais’ klona Nr. 52 uzacotajai šķirnei ‘Zentenes’ veidojās optimāla garuma pamatzaru pieaugumi, un koku veselība bija laba gan Pūrē, gan Dobelē. Labus rezultātus koku augšanas un veselības ziņā Pūrē šķirnei ‘Zentenes’ novēroja arī kombinācijā ar kontroles potcelmu P. mahaleb, bet Dobelē – kombinācijās ar skābā ķirša ‘Latvijas Zemais’ kloniem Nr. 3 un Raunas.
