[ES] La actual colección científica de fauna marina del Centro Oceanográfico de Málaga, dependiente del Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO), es una de las más destacadas del país. Está compuesta por gran cantidad de especies de peces e invertebrados (principalmente moluscos y crustáceos bentónicos) que se han venido incorporando desde el año 1908. Incluye ejemplares especialmente interesantes de peces y crustáceos que sirvieron de referencia para las primeras descripciones originales de especies y subespecies nuevas para la ciencia, que dieron a conocer tres de sus primeros directores zoólogos: Fernando de Buen Lozano (1895-1962), Álvaro de Miranda Rivera (1896-1940) y Fernando Lozano Cabo (1916-1980). Aunque describimos con preferencia la colección ictiológica y se cuantifica cronológicamente, también recordaremos el esfuerzo de otros naturalistas de la plantilla del centro que se dedicaron, durante el período considerado, al estudio de las algas (Luís Bellón Uriarte), moluscos (Gimena Quirós Fernández-Tello) y peces (Manuel-Vicente Loro Gómez del Pulgar y Antonio Becerra Herraíz).

[EN] The current scientific collection of marine fauna of the Centro Oceanográfico de Málaga, under the Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO), is one of the most outstanding in the country. It consists of a great amount of species of fish and invertebrates (mainly mollusks and benthic crustaceans) that have been incorporated since year 1908. It includes several specimens of fish and crustaceans of special interest that served as a reference for the first original description of species and subspecies new to science, and submitted by three of the first zoologist- Directors: Fernando de Buen Lozano (1895-1962), Álvaro de Miranda Rivera (1896-1940) and Fernando Lozano Cabo (1916-1980). Although mainly focusing on the description of the ichthyologic collection and its chronological quantification, we will also be remembering the effort made by other naturalists belonging to the staff of the Center who dedicated themselves, over the period considered, to the study of seaweeds (Luis Bellón Uriarte), molluscs (Gimena Quirós Fernández-Tello) and fishes (Manuel-Vicente Loro Gómez del Pulgar and Antonio Becerra Herraíz).
