Determinación de la huella de carbono de los vehículos institucionales de la universidad técnica de Cotopaxi para el año 2019.

This research is framed in the area of knowledge of agricultural sciences and natural resources, in the line of research of alternative and renewable energies, energy efficiency and environmental protection, specifically, in the sub-line of environmental education, with the general objective to determine the carbon footprint produced by the institutional vehicles of the Technical University of Cotopaxi (UTC) in its two university campuses: Matriz and Salache of the Province of Cotopaxi, Cantón Latacunga, Parroquia Eloy Alfaro; analyzing the impact during the year 2019. Methodologically, it refers to a documentary, field and non-experimental research, of a descriptive type in relation to the carbon footprint generated by the organization, for which financial information and the method established on the accounting accounts, the international standard ISO 14064 and 14069. Concluding that in 2019 the amount of 55,111 tons of CO2 was emitted by combustion directly affecting the environment. Therefore, a set of strategies and actions was presented as part of an improvement plan to prevent, mitigate, rehabilitate and optimize activities in favor of the planet and as part of UTC's corporate social responsibility.

La presente investigación se enmarca en el área de conocimiento de las Ciencias agropecuarias y recursos naturales, en la línea de investigación de Energías alternativas y renovables, eficiencia energética y protección ambiental, específicamente, en la sub-línea de Educación ambiental, con el objetivo general de determinar la huella de carbono que producen los vehículos institucionales de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi (UTC) en sus dos campus universitarios: Matriz y Salache de la Provincia de Cotopaxi, Cantón Latacunga, Parroquia Eloy Alfaro; analizando el impacto durante el año 2019. Metodológicamente, se refiere a una pesquisa documental, de campo y no experimental, de tipo descriptivo con relación a la huella de carbono generada por la organización, para ello se utilizó información financiera y el método establecido sobre las cuentas contables, la norma internacional ISO 14064 y 14069. Concluyendo que en el año 2019 se emitió la cantidad de 55,111 toneladas de CO2 por combustión con afectación directa al medio ambiente. Por tanto, se presentó un conjunto de estrategias y acciones como parte de un plan de mejora para prevenir, mitigar, rehabilitar y optimizar las actividades en favor del planeta y como parte de la responsabilidad social empresarial de la UTC.
