Effect of seed priming chemicals on growth and yield of Cowpea

The field trial was carried out at Research farm of Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur to evaluate the effect of seed priming chemicals on cowpea. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design using 8 treatments (Control, Seed priming with water, Seed priming with ABA (150 ppm), Seed priming with KNO3 (0.5%), Seed priming with KNO3 (0.5%) + KNO3 (1%) spray at flowering initiation stage, Seed priming with salicylic acid (200 mg/L.), Thiourea (500 ppm) spray at pre-flowering and flowering stage and KNO3 (1%) spray at pre-flowering and flowering stage). The result showed that foliar application of 500 ppm thiourea at pre flowering and flowering stage gave significantly higher growth parameters, yield attributes and yield (1372 kg/ha) and stover yield (2375 kg/ha) of cowpea and it is recommended for higher productivity of crop.
