Las patologías oftalmológicas en perros (Canis lupus familiaris) y gatos (Felis catus silvestris) varían de acuerdo a la parte anatómica del ojo que se encuentre afectada, en este artículo nos basaremos en la patologías de túnica nerviosa, específicamente de la retina; una de las estructuras más sensibles del ojo ya que está encargada de enviar impulsos nerviosos que se transforman finalmente en la visión, cualquier afectación que se presente allí conducirá a la pérdida progresiva de la visión en casos más graves a la ceguera, al ser una estructura nerviosa es difícil de evaluar y para los clínicos se hace difícil poder determinar si el paciente cursa con una patología oftalmológica de tipo retiniano, por lo que el presente documento busca describir las patologías con signos clínicos específicos junto con las pruebas diagnósticas que permitan al médico realizar un diagnóstico temprano, un diagnóstico tardío predispone la presentación de otras patologías oftalmológicas empeorando el cuadro clínico del paciente, por lo tanto, un diagnóstico asertivo y un tratamiento eficaz son clave para mantener la calidad de vida del paciente. La recopilación de información de estas patologías determinará diferencias o coincidencias entre autores, obteniendo un documento con información verídica de diferentes autores e investigaciones.

Ophthalmological pathologies in dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) and cats (Felis catus silvestris) vary according to the anatomical part of the eye that is affected, in this article we will focus on the pathologies of the nervous tunic, specifically the retina; one of the most sensitive structures of the eye since it is in charge of sending nervous impulses that are ultimately transformed into vision, any affectation that occurs there will lead to progressive loss of vision in more severe cases to blindness, being a nervous structure it is difficult to evaluate and it is difficult for clinicians to determine if the patient has a retinal ophthalmological pathology, so this document seeks to describe the pathologies with specific clinical signs together with the diagnostic tests that allow the doctor to make an early diagnosis, a late diagnosis predisposes the presentation of other ophthalmological pathologies worsening the patient's clinical picture, therefore, an assertive diagnosis and an effective treatment are key to maintaining the patient's quality of life. The collection of information on these pathologies will determine differences orcoincidences between authors, obtaining a document with truthful information from different authors and investigations.
