Volcanic areas are spectacular landscapes that contain great geodiversity and geoheritage, offering many resources to local communities. El Hierro island is located in the east Atlantic Ocean, and it is the most western and the second smallest island of the Canaries. Currently, El Hierro is a Biosphere Reserve (2000), UNESCO Global Geopark (2014, and more than the 58% of its space are natural protected areas. The Hierro UNESCO Global Geopark (HGG) draws thousands of visitors every year, mainly by diving and trekking. However, the foremost geomorphological landscapes are not very significant geographical spots for the tourists yet.
