Growth of all-female and mixed sex trout in a Venezuelan fish hatchery | Crecimiento de truchas todas hembras y de ambos sexos en un criadero venezolano

英语. This research was carried out in the Experimental Station La Mucuy, located at 2300 masl in the National Park "Sierra Nevada" near Mérida, Venezuela. The water is from glacier origin. The objective of this work was to evaluate the growth of all-female and mixed-sex trout. The all-female trout represented the experimental group, while the control group was represented by the offspring of the crossing between normal male and normal female. The average weight and total length of the all-female trout were 106.92 g, and 17.33 cm (n = 1440), respectively. The control group reached values of 58.77 g and 14.37 cm of weight and length, respectively. The weight and length of the all-female trout were significantly greater than control group (P<0.05). The growth of the all-female trout and the control group showed similarities during the first months of the experiment, but differences showed up after 207 days. Growth of the experimental group was 43.57% higher than control group. The all-female trout represent promissory material for trout farming because its superior growth in relation to mixed-sex trout, which constitute the traditional farming system in Venezuela.

西班牙语; 卡斯蒂利亚语. Este trabajo se realizó en el Campo Experimental Truchícola La Mucuy, ubicado en el Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada en Mérida, Venezuela, a una altitud de 2300 msnm. El agua utilizada fue de origen glaciar. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar el crecimiento de truchas todas hembras, obtenidas a través de reversión sexual, y de ejemplares de ambos sexos. Las larvas todas hembras obtenidas de un cruce entre truchas masculinizadas y hembras normales se dividieron en cuatro lotes que constituyeron el grupo experimental, mientras que el grupo control estuvo constituido por cuatro lotes provenientes de un cruce entre machos normales y hembras normales. El peso y la longitud total promedio de las truchas todas hembras fue de 106,92 g y 17,33 cm (n = 1440), respectivamente. Estas variables alcanzaron valores de 58,77 g y 14,37 cm para los ejemplares de ambos sexos (n = 1440). Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los dos grupos tanto en peso como en longitud (P<0,05). El crecimiento de las truchas todas hembras y de ambos sexos fue similar al inicio del experimento, separándose a los 207 días de cultivo. Al final del experimento (420 días post-fertilización) las truchas todas hembras crecieron un 43,57% más que las de ambos sexos. Las truchas todas hembras representan un material promisorio para el cultivo de esta especie debido a la superioridad en crecimiento al compararlas con los ejemplares de ambos sexos, los cuales constituyen el cultivo tradicional en Venezuela.
