This is the first report on the proposed molecular mechanism of resistance of abaca BC, hybrid to ABTV [Abaca Bunchy Top Virus] according to the researcher's knowledge. This study also provides insights on the system of molecular antiviral mechanisms in a monocot as revealed in the predicted modes of innate immunity signaling pathways in ABTV-resistant abaca hybrids based on RNA-Seq analysis from ABTV infection experiments of abaca BC sub 2, hybrid. Experimental expression studies must be conducted and duplicated to validate these initial gene expression studies on ABTV resistance.
