La práctica médica como acto de cuidado integral en el contexto de la revolución tecnológica | Medical practice as an act of comprehensive care in the context of the technological revolution

El avance tecnológico ha transformado profundamente la medicina contemporánea. Herramientas como la inteligencia artificial, la telemedicina y los dispositivos biomédicos han mejorado la eficiencia de los sistemas de salud, pero también han generado desafíos éticos relacionados con la deshumanización del cuidado y el debilitamiento de la relación médico-paciente. El objetivo del presente ensayo es analizar desde la bioética y la ética del cuidado cómo el uso de tecnologías en salud puede afectar la práctica clínica, resaltando la necesidad de preservar la dignidad y la integralidad del paciente en un contexto altamente tecnificado. Discusión: Desde la perspectiva de Gilbert Hottois, la bioética es una reflexión crítica sobre los efectos del creciente poder tecnocientífico sobre la vida orgánica. Esta mirada advierte sobre la instrumentalización del cuerpo humano y la necesidad de mantener una ética que priorice la dignidad, la autonomía y la diversidad humana. Complementariamente, la ética del cuidado, especialmente en el enfoque de Joan Tronto, Carol Gilligan y Nel Noddings, propone una moral relacional que reconoce la vulnerabilidad, la empatía y la responsabilidad en el acto de cuidar. El envejecimiento poblacional en Colombia plantea retos importantes para los sistemas de salud, y el discurso transhumanista al prometer superar la enfermedad, el envejecimiento y la muerte, debe ser abordado con precaución. Asimismo, la relación médico-paciente, afectada por la tecnificación, requiere ser repensada desde una bioética centrada en la interacción humana, como lo sostiene la Declaración de Córdoba de la Asociación Médica Mundial. Conclusión: La medicina del futuro debe integrar la tecnología con una ética del cuidado que preserve la humanidad del acto médico. Solo así será posible garantizar una atención centrada en el paciente, sensible a sus diferentes dimensiones.

The objective of this essay is to analyze, from the perspective of bioethics and the ethics of care, how the use of healthcare technologies can affect clinical practice, highlighting the need to preserve the dignity and integrity of the patient in a highly technological context. Discussion: From the perspective of Gilbert Hottois, bioethics is a critical reflection on the effects of the growing techno-scientific power over organic life. This perspective warns of the instrumentalization of the human body and the need to maintain an ethic that prioritizes human dignity, autonomy, and diversity. In addition, the ethics of care, especially in the approach of Joan Tronto, Carol Gilligan, and Nel Noddings, proposes a relational morality that recognizes vulnerability, empathy, and responsibility in the act of caring. The aging population in Colombia poses significant challenges for healthcare systems, and the transhumanist discourse, which promises to overcome disease, aging, and death, must be approached with caution. Likewise, the doctor-patient relationship, affected by technological advances, requires rethinking from a bioethics centered on human interaction, as upheld by the World Medical Association's Córdoba Declaration. Conclusion: The medicine of the future must integrate technology with an ethics of care that preserves the humanity of the medical act. Only in this way will it be possible to guarantee patient-centered care, sensitive to the patient's various dimensions.
