The Commission may consult the group on any matter relating to marine and fisheries biology, fishing gear technology, fisheries economics, fisheries governance, ecosystem effects of fisheries, aquaculture or similar disciplines. This ad hoc report first reviews the technical details of the Generalised Linear Mixed effects Model (GLMM) approach that is applied to estimate model-based indicators for the performance of the Common Fisheries Policy. It then presents the results a suitability study of applying the Bayesian State-Space model ‘JARA’ as an alternative to the current GLMM approach.
