The paper studied the variation of leaf area index (LAI), leaf chlorophyll content (CHL. C), fresh leaf chlorophyll density (CHL. D) and hyperspectral data in growing period on rice field plots of different nitrogen levels. The correlations between the hyperspectral data and above parameters of rice were analyzed. Spectral derivative technique was used to suppress the effects of low frequency background spectral noises (such as soil and so on). The derivatives of reflectance spectra can enhance the correlation and improve precision in predicting LAI, CHL. C, CHL. D. Results show that the relationship of LAI, CHL. C, CHL. D with the derivatives of reflectance spectra more markedly correlate of with reflectance spectra at some wavelength.
