The commercialization of biostimulants based on seaweed has increased since they began to be used in agriculture; these biostimulants have proven to be beneficial for the growth and development of plants. The present research was developed with the objective of evaluating the effect of seaweed (Sargassum) on the growth, development and yield of corn crops. For this purpose, a field experiment was carried out in the period from September to November 2023 in the experimental areas of the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Two doses of the bioproduct (5 and 10 mg ha-1) were studied, compared with a control treatment. Foliar sprays were carried out at two times of the crop cycle at 15 and 30 days after germination. Evaluations of growth, development and crop yield were carried out. The results obtained showed a positive effect of the bioproduct and similarly a significant (P<0,05) result for the dose of 5 mg ha-1 with two applications, which was superior tothe control treatment in both growth and development in terms of height, number of leaves. , stem diameter, as well as yield components such as number of rows and grains per ear and the fresh and dry mass of the ear per plant; Also, agricultural yield is higher, doubling the result of the control treatment. The dose of 10 mg ha-1 increases the yield with respect to the control.

La comercialización de bioestimulantes a bases de algas marinas ha aumentado desde que se comenzaron a utilizar en la agricultura, estos bioestimulantes han demostrado ser beneficiosos para el crecimiento y desarrollo de las plantas. La presente investigación se desarrolló con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de algas marinas (Sargassum) en el crecimiento, desarrollo y rendimiento del cultivo del maíz. Para ello, se llevó a cabo un experimento de campo en el período de septiembre a noviembre de 2023 en las áreas experimentales del Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Agrícolas). Se estudiaron dos dosis del bioproducto (5 y 10 mg ha-1), comparados con un tratamiento control. Las aspersiones foliares se ejecutaron en dos momentos del ciclo del cultivo a los 15 y 30 días después de la germinación. Se realizaron evaluaciones de crecimiento, desarrollo y rendimiento del cultivo. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron un efecto positivo del bioproducto y de manera similar un resultado significativo (P<0,05) para la dosis de 5 mg ha-1 con dos aplicaciones, la cual fue superior al tratamiento control tanto en el crecimiento y desarrollo en cuanto a altura, número de hojas, diámetro del tallo, así como en componentes del rendimiento como número de hileras y granos por mazorca y la masa fresca y seca de la mazorca por planta; también, el rendimiento agrícola es superior duplicando el resultado del tratamiento control. La dosis de 10 mg ha-1 incrementa el rendimiento con respecto al control.
