Human Capital in the Companies of the Third Millennium

This paper presents the formal education of employees in companies of the third millennium operating in the city of Užice. The aim of the paper is to determine the importance that Užice-based companies attribute to educated personnel. The subject of the paper is to highlight the role of formal education of employees in achieving business objectives. Using the method of surveying, descriptive statistical measures, the Mann-Whitney test as well as the Kruskal-Wallis test, the aim was to demonstrate whether there are differences between the gender structure of respondents and formal education, as well as whether there are differences between the age structure of respondents and formal education. It was concluded that there are differences between the gender structure of respondents and formal education. Although fewer women were surveyed compared to men, women had better education. We also draw a conclusion that there are no significant differences between the age groups of respondents and their formal education levels. Furthermore, we concluded that in all the observed companies, the lowest level of education is secondary education and the highest is a master's degree or postgraduate degree. Employees with master's or postgraduate qualifications are found in companies such as Infrastruktura Železnice Srbije AD (Serbian Railways Infrastructure), Turbo Servis and Srbija Kargo AD.
