英语. Bipolaris sorokiniana is the causal agent of common root rot, leaf spot disease, seedling blight and black point of cereals, especially wheat and barley. The fungus is one of the most serious foliar disease constraints for both crops in warmer growing areas and causes significant yield losses. Therefore, in this review taxonomy, biology and economic importance of B. sorokiniana are presented.

Gatunek ten jest głównym sprawcą zgnilizny korzeni, zgorzeli siewek, plamistości liści, helmintosporiozy oraz czernienia kłosów. Powoduje poważne straty w uprawach zbóż jarych szacowane na około 10% jęczmienia i 5% pszenicy. Opisano biologię, stanowisko taksonomiczne, objawy chorobowe oraz występowanie i znaczenie gospodarcze B. sorokiniana.
