An experiment was conducted to determine the levels of crude protein and lysine necessary for optimum growth of weaned pigs in a tropical environment and their influence on some blood parameters, using the “ideal protein” concept, described by the Agricultural Research Council. Four diets containing 14, 16, 18 and 20% crude protein and corresponding to 0.98, 1.12, 1.26 and 1.40% lysine were fed to weaned pigs with average initial body weight of 6.22 kg during a 56-day period.
