Use of new indices for evaluating the sustainability of agroecosystems in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela | UTILIZACI�?N DE NUEVOS ÍNDICES PARA EVALUAR LA SOSTENIBILIDAD DE UN AGROECOSISTEMA EN LA REP�?BLICA BOLIVARIANA DE VENEZUELA

During 2009 and first half of 2010, an investigationwas conducted in the San Geronimo Production CooperativeRL municipality of Montalban, Carabobo state, which aimedto assess the sustainability of agroecosystems, using as toolsthe General Sustainability Index (GSI) and simultaneouslyevaluated a new Agrobiodiversity Index (ADI) as an indicatorsupreme agricultural sustainability. Diagnosis was made aGeneral Comprehensive and Participatory, to identify problemsthat limit the sustainability of agro and agro-ecologicalalternatives were proposed possible to achieve a medium-termSustainability Index (GSI) and Agrobiodiversity Index (ADI)above 0,7 since the establishment of a methodological guidesupported by previous work, but adapted to the growingconditions in this locality. With the application of the toolsmentioned above, it was determined that the ISM indices andIDA, reached values of 0.52 and 0.37 respectively. Applicationof Matrix Vester, showed that the main problems identified(critical) was the poor training of these actors and poor diversity.It produced a guide for action based on agroecologicalprinciples that begins with on-site training of actors, based onthe implementation of a programme for the sustainabledevelopment of small Venezuela agroecosystems, with thevision of becoming closer to food security.

西班牙语; 卡斯蒂利亚语. Durante el año 2009 y primer semestre del año2010, fue conducida una investigación en la Cooperativa deProducción San Gerónimo R. L. del municipio de Montalbándel estado Carabobo, que tuvo como objetivo evaluar lasostenibilidad de un agroecosistema, utilizando comoherramientas el Índice General de Sostenibilidad (IGS) y deforma simultánea se evaluó un nuevo Índice deAgrobiodiversidad (IDA) como indicador supremo de lasostenibilidad agraria. Se realizó un diagnóstico general integraly participativo, para detectar los problemas que limitaban lasostenibilidad del agroecosistema y se propusieron lasalternativas agroecológicas posibles para alcanzar a medianoplazo un Índice General de Sostenibilidad (IGS) y un Índice deAgrobiodiversidad (IDA) superior a 0,7 a partir delestablecimiento de una guía metodológica sustentada entrabajos precedentes, pero adaptada a las condicionesagroclimáticas de esta localidad. Con la aplicación de lasherramientas antes señaladas, se pudo determinar que losíndices IGS e IDA, alcanzaron valores de 0.52 y 0.37 respectivamente.La aplicación de la Matriz de Vester, mostró que de los problemasdetectados los principales (críticos) fueron la escasa capacitaciónde estos actores y la baja diversidad. Se elaboró una guía deacción basada en principios agroecológicos que se iniciacon la capacitación in situ de los actores, teniendo como basela aplicación de un programa para el desarrollo sostenible delos agroecosistemas pequeños de Venezuela, con la visión detener un mayor acercamiento a la seguridad alimentaria.
